This course introduces various elements of starting an entrepreneurial journey, including team building, crowd sourcing, use of social media, etc. Based on an experiential learning model, there will be sharing from industry representatives in class while students will also have opportunities to gain authentic experiences in different industries and reaching out to network of co-working spaces. This course does not require students to have previous entrepreneurial experience or any form of business training.

ENTR2010 - Entrepreneurship Mentorship and Readings

OUR ENTR 2010 introduces entrepreneurship through mentorship and readings to broadly expose students to the area. Students can choose their own area of interest to study, and they can also explore and further develop their interested area with our mentor. Entrepreneurship activities from ENTR 2010 are motivated by students. Independent study of readings and entrepreneurship activities are the media to develop self-motivated learning skills, in which the instructor will help students consolidate their experiences and act as a facilitator of their learnings.

ENTR3100 - Industrial Landscape

Being an entrepreneur does not necessarily equate to starting a business. It is a perspective that allows one to learn to see opportunities, embrace risks and take action. ENTRU 3100 introduces key mindsets and skill-sets to students who are interested in embarking upon an entrepreneurial journey in ecommerce or marketing. In our course, students will have opportunities to gain hands-on experience and work with peers across disciplines. Each semester will features different existing professionals and experts of the industry to be our guest lecturer, the theme of each semester is selected based on the current market situation that bring new refreshing insight to our students in which they are able to access the actual data and analysis of the industry

ENTR490X - Student-led Entrepreneurship Acceleration Project

About this course
Many successful IT startups begin in university years. This is a project course led by students to accelerate their entrepreneurship endeavor under the guidance and advice of a faculty member. Students work in team of size 2 to 3 to develop an idea from its scratch to become viable in market. In the process, students work on ideation, prototyping, making presentations, developing operation strategies, conducting experimental trials, designing market survey, collecting user feedbacks, writing business plan, and soft-launching and pivoting the product or services. Written reports, presentations, and/or business/operation plan are required. May be repeated for credits if different topics are taken. Instructor's approval is required for enrollment in the course.
